THE VEHICLE RESTORATION WORKSHOP

We intend to do similar to last year with the car restoration taking up a large part of the tent, with demonstrations on hot shrinking, small dent repair, mig-welding, lead loading, sanding and polishing, etc, and hopefully some of the cars that have been restored to show the finished product.
We will also have car components to demonstrate the mechanical and electronic principles of the modern car and some old technology as well for people to compare the technology from the past.
I am hoping to bring a running engine that we can connect diagnostic equipment on to it, to show how to diagnose problems with modern cars.
We will bring a notice board with pictures from the courses run in the college. I am hoping to bring information from the construction department about the courses they run; electrical installation, plumbing, gas work, bricklaying, plastering, woodworking, and refrigeration.
You’ve always wanted to learn about oxy-acetylene welding, right? Or about heat shrinking of metalor how to fill dents in car bodies the traditional way by lead loading— not to mention panel beating on sandbags? Well, worry no more. Just make your way to this site near to the Auto Jumble where throughout the day members of Liverpool Community College will be conducting a ‘workshop’ in such topics, including electrical fault recognition, problems with motorcycle engines (both 2 and 4 stroke) and static ignition timing on motorcycles. Depending upon facilities available, it is also hoped to demonstrate paint rectification and MIG (metal inert gas) welding.
Organised by Liverpool Community College
