Traffic Regulation Order.
In order to safely facilitate the ingress & egress of vehicles and pedestrians to the Woodvale Rally it is necessary to reduce the speed limit and segregated event traffic from through traffic on the Formby By-Pass (A565) and the erection of temporary traffic lights at the main entrance to RAF Woodvale.
Sefton MBC, have issued a temporary traffic regulation order in relation to the Woodvale Rally
This order allows for a temporary speed limit of 30mph being in place from 1000hrs Friday 1st August to 2000hrs Sunday 3rd August 2007. The length of carriageways affected by the temporary speed limit are:-
Northbound
A565 (Formby By Pass) 2 meters north of its junction, with Moss Side to a point 20 metres south of its junction, with Southport Old Road. (Southport end)
Southbound
A565 (Formby By-Pass) 20meters south of its junction, with Southport Old Road. (Southport end) to a point 5 metres south of its junction, with Southport Old Road (Freshfield Roundabout)
Be aware. If you speed and get 'trapped', don't blame us.
For the Disabled
Please note, our event is held on an RAF Airfield, which is principally grass, therefore whilst we try to make adequate arrangements for disabled people - a designated Disabled Car Park close to the center and toilets especially adapted for the disabled - we cannot arrange for all the area in use to be on 'hard standing' and we hope persons with physical disabilities will understand this.
All should be aware that there are rabbits on the airfield and one of the problems with rabbits is that as fast as their holes are filled in others are dug, especially over night. THIS COULD RESULT IN TWISTED ANKLES OR WORSE.
We are pleased to announce that this year Southport Shop Mobility will again be operating a hire service for a variety of vehicles. Their home at the Rally will be a marquee in the central area near the Information Office.

The Woodvale International Rally is organised by Woodvale Rally Limited, a non-profit organisation who's aim is to raise monies for charitable purposes and good causes. All the people who work at the Event, laying out the ground plan and dealing with the myriad things associated with a large public event, acting as tellers at the public entrances, parking cars etc. give of their time freely. Without them the Rally just would not happen.
Woodvale Rally is held on Ministry of defence property, the airfield is a live RAF Establishment, which for the rest of the year supplies the needs of the RAF in training young men and women members of Manchester and Salford University Air Squadron (MASUAS) and Liverpool University Air Squadron (LUAS), as pilots. The station is also the home to number 10 Air Experience Flight (10AEF), which gives air experience to young men and women of the Air Training Corps and the RAF Section of the local Combined Cadet Force and number 631 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, which trains Air Cadets to fly solo. The Air Training Corps Merseyside Wing Head Quarters is also located at RAF Woodvale.
The Merseyside Police Air Support Group Helicopter is based at RAF Woodvale and operates 24 hours a day throughout the year, even when the Rally is running!
Our thanks go the MOD, the Officer Commanding and the Station Administration Officer RAF Woodvale for all the help given to the Rally organisers.
We also gratefully acknowledge the help from Champion Newspapers; Southport Tourism Business Network; Merseyside Fire Brigade and The British Red Cross Association not forgetting the invaluable work of Scouts and Cubs from 1st Southport (Ainsdale) and other Scout Groups; 611 (Woodvale) Squadron Air Training Corps and REACT for their help in ground control.
